Tree Cabling

Cabling is a preventive technique that prolongs the life of a tree by strengthening its weak forks or heavy branches before a breakage occurs.

Some trees have V-shaped (co-dominant) forks or particularly heavy branches that are likely to break under the weight of snow, ice or during high winds. Cabling is the recommended solution in these situations.

The principle involves installing high-strength steel support cables between branches or between a branch and the trunk, reducing mechanical stress on the tree's weak points.

When properly done by a certified arborist, cabling is virtually invisible and allows the tree to continue developing naturally while being protected. A preliminary assessment of the tree's structure is always performed.
